Letter E

 

It is a female letter of Phoenician origin. It is the fifth letter of the alphabet in Hebrew and English, and the sixth in Cyrillic. The numerical value is 5. As a character of Kabbalah it means breath or as a symbol it means the window. It is the Greek epsilon. According to Nicomachus, the form of epsilon depicts a trunk of vertical axis. It is the eighth letter of the Greek alphabet. It includes all aspects of the soul.

It is associated with the celestial subdivision, the divine and the physical elements under the sign of five, such as Egyptian Isis, Greek Aphrodite and Roman Diana. To this series of divine names corresponds the fifth name Hadu (Eb) which means "divine".

For the Slavs E is the letter of life. So it symbolizes renewal, movement, growth, life itself. This letter represents this divine power, which makes the grass grow, the sap of the earth and makes it flow through the trunks of the trees.
